What We Do

ReLI works to catalyze thrivability through five overarching, interconnected initiatives

Community Garden

We co-create and catalyze communities in which all life thrives and is progressing toward ever greater health and wellbeing. Each community serves as a living + learning laboratory and catalyzation center, with bioregional hubs, so we can continuously improve how we live.

Life is structured as communities of communities. By “community,” we mean a biogeocultural living system of strong relationships and flows. Working at the community scale is effective and catalyzes change upscale—to cities, regions, and beyond—as well as downscale, to smaller organizations and individuals. Each community we co-create and support is a living + learning laboratory that serves to increase our understanding about what does and does not work in co-creating regenerative living systems so that we can improve continuously our approach and implementation.

ReLI is actively working to create bioregional Regenerative Living Hubs as one type of living + learning community to catalyze change throughout bioregions and link them for larger-scale regenerative transformation. To guide regenerative community co-creation, ReLI implements the first and only Regenerative Community Development (RCD) Framework and Regenerative Development Certification system, developed by our Founder, Dr. Leah Gibbons, after decades of experience and research into what factors are necessary for shifts toward holistically thriving living systems.

The RCD Framework and Certification provide structures for the process, cocreation, and continual evolution of thriving communities of human + more-than-human life. It helps develop the consciousness, thinking, and values necessary for regenerative communities while also developing the social and ecological systems necessary. Further, it provides a way to evaluate whether and to what extent projects and initiatives are regenerative.

We work in existing, developing, and new communities. Contact us to find out how to be part of the most (re)evolutionary shift occurring in the world. We need everyone to be the change!

Looking at Crops

Regenerative education develops the innate capacities and capabilities of individuals and communities to express their unique potential and serve their larger communities, the planet, and, in the process, themselves. To create a regenerative culture, we need regenerative education. Regenerative education nurtures the skills, capabilities, knowledge, values, and ways of thinking and being necessary for holistically thriving communities. It nurtures the inner and the outer life of individuals, communities, and societies. We offer educational classes, programs, certifications, and systems to support holistic transformation toward regeneration.

ReLI co-creates and supports local, bioregional, and global networks to catalyze regeneration. ReLI networks and collaborates with individuals and organizations whose mission and vision is similar. We leverage our efforts to catalyze transformational change towards thrivability across scales. We host online and in-person networking platforms, collaboration events and retreats, workshops, symposia, and other such events.

Research focuses on regenerative development and design processes and outcomes as well as regenerative living elements at a variety of scales and in a variety of settings and cultures including sites, urban and rural ecovillages, urban and rural neighborhoods and communities, landscapes, watersheds, cities, and regions. Processes and outcomes include ecological, social, cultural, and consciousness/spiritual dimensions. As such, research is social and natural, qualitative and quantitative. It includes processes, technologies, strategies, and outcomes in projects, living and learning centers, programs, and collaborative endeavors.

ReLI pioneers the first and only certification processes for regenerative development projects of all types—sites, communities, cities, regions, educational programs, businesses, and more. Certification processes offer guidance to help projects be regenerative at every step of their unfoldment, from inception through occupancy and living into the future. The certification process addresses the social and ecological components and interbeing of living systems in a way that develops the capacities of those systems to continually increase in health and wellbeing and manifest thrivability.
